About Brandon

At an early age Brandon Jackson was confronted with many of the adversities that impact children of color and of low socioeconomic status.  When Brandon  was 7 years old  he was placed in the foster care system.  Like most foster care children, his life was grounded on instability as he frequently transitioned from place to place. Fortunately for Brandon, a wonderful man Walter Jackson  adopted him, and believed in him.  Most importantly Mr. Jackson taught Brandon to believe in himself as a child full of potential.  Brandon embraced the lessons that Mr. Jackson taught him and pursued education as a means of claiming the life that Mr. Jackson taught him that he had a right to have–a life of abundance and security.

Determined not to be a statistic Brandon understood that he had to maintain focus and  work hard to secure the college degree that according to research only 2% of kids placed in foster care would ever obtain.  The hard work was not only academic.  Brandon had to conscientiously negotiate the social traps that consistently detour young men with his background from realizing goals.

Brandon is living proof that self-efficacy and hard work can mount life’s obstacles and obtain goals.  He received his B.A. from Eastern Michigan University and obtained his Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Wayne State University respectively. Not satisfied with the attainment of his goals alone, Brandon has made it his passion to create a pipeline of students (K-20) that understand that education is a key component to civic engagement, wealth attainment and better health and are focused on the pursuit of education as a means to obtain their best life.
